If you're talking about Internet Explorer. then it's easy.

Open internet explorer, choose "help" and then choose "About Internet Explor".

There are other ways, but this is simplest!

After you open your browser click on the help tab, scroll to the bottom where it says about and click on that. A logo screen weather it be Internet Explorer or Netscape will open and right below the named browser should be the listing for what version you are using.
