Who cares what people wear. That's a pretty snooty question for you to be asking.
Perhaps people that are poor are struggling to keep food on the table and to make ends meet and they DO have their priorities straight. Perhaps they think that keeping bellies full and their homes warm and cool is more important that an expensive pair of pants. THEY USE THEIR HEADS.
Some people have less money than others.
Some people can't even afford to shop at thrift stores.
Use your head a little bit and don't be asking such low and snotty questions.
I was there one time too, fortunately now, I am grown and I am living a successful life, but I would not go out and spend $40.00 on a pair of pants when I know that all I am paying for half the time is the name.
I can get pants that are priced cheaper than that and they still like nice. I don't like to flaunt. I choose to be sensible with my spendings and I choose to see where my greatest priorities lie
Maybe your friends parents were able to get her some expensive pants at good discount prices.
You will one day learn that the price or the brand names of clothing mean nothing.
So get your nose out of the air and stop making fun of the poor people.

I'm not poor and I wear cheap pants. Some don't see why you should spend $100 on pants that look almost the same for $20. I really don't care about what I wear. As long as it dark I'm good. Now I have a question for you, why spend so much on just clothes. Why don't you spend it on something nice like a working brain.

Wow.... this has to be the stupidest and most insensitive question I've ever read on this site. And that's saying a lot.
As any four year-old may be able to reason on his own, poor people have to buy cheap pants because they can't afford any better. The lower your income, the most basic consumption priorities you have.
Poor people have little money, and they'd rather use it to buy food, medicines, and more essential items, instead of wasting it in superfluous stuff. Fashion is a luxury.
If you really asked this out of curiosity, then you really need to get out of the social bubble you are living in girl, and realize that there are many out there in the real world that are not as lucky as you are. Poor people are human beings like you or me, and they deserve the same respect that any other.
Your question is offensive and shallow in so many levels....

this is an easy answer. the poor people buy cheap pants because they are saving all their money on more important things. like alcohol. or feeding their many many many children. or getting all their animals fixed so they cant have more babies. or buying everything they think looks interesting at Home and Garden events at the community center. or lotto tickets, the megamillions kind.
and as for your friens with the nice pants, obviously it was her birthday or something recently and her rich friend gave her those pants she pointed out one day while they were out shopping. and what i mean by shopping was ur poor friend watching her rich friend buy all the clothes they both like.

I say that if your friend wears nice clothes and has no money then they are a very smart consignment shopper you can always find great clothes for cheap even in the mall Your friend must be a smart shopper/that cares about how they look some poor folk just don't care what they wear just happy to have on clothes

well your friend might be a better shopper, or maybe the other poor girls would rather have something to eat in the house or be able to buy school supplies rather than wear nice pants. Or maybe your friend steals, or the pants were donated to her. Don't ask stupid questions.

Your poor friend that has "Really Nice Pants" may go to Goodwill. There are clothes there that have never been worn!
People just drop them off with the tags still attached!

Well...maybe your friend saved her money and worked hard to get those pants. Also I am more concerned with eating than wearing juicy pants. So i am thinking poor people are too.
