The first episode of "The Addams Family" aired on September 18, 1964; the first episode of "The Munsters" debuted on September 24, 1964. Hope this solves your query.

Anyone who answers this as munsters is dumb or didn't have a Grandfather who knew "everything". My Grandfather had these old comic books of the Adams Family. They are more gruesome than the movie, the comic strip, and the cartoon all together. We loved that stuff. I guess killing isn't as comical anymore.

Both series aired in 1964. However, the Addams Family was a cartoon in the New Yorker Magazine.

I'm not sure which one hit TV first, but the Addams family was derived from the drawings and cartoons of Charles Addams, supposedly based on his family, that were published in The New Yorker magazine.
