This is very important, if you can where can you find the information, as to if each state has its own designation

I am the only person from my state that I know of that has the first 3 #'s that start with a 5. i am also adopted

The number will not indicate what state a person is born, only the state that the person lived in at the time the number was issued.

No. My husband and I were born in different states and we have the same beginning numbers.

no you can't tell the birth state only the state where the SSN was issued!
