I have been taking some classes through our local joblink in my town and we have been learning alot about positive thinking and the effects it can have on a person. Just little things that you can say or do that can really make a difference. Just curious as to little "rituals" or ideas others may have to keep good attitudes themselves.

Create your own mantra, or chant. When there is negative energy around you, concentrate on the mantra/chant and smile. When creating your mantra, make it as positive as you can, like : "There is goodness in all things" .
It is a psychological trick. If you repeat that little sentence enough times, you will believe it eventually, and things will become more positive around you. Good luck !

Well, one thing that causes me to be positive are the people who have helped me throughout my life. The random strangers that become your friends make you have a better appreciation for things. Exploring songs, books, or movies that you can relate to anything like the movie "Amelie" or songs by the group Rascal Flatts can just make you smile. Writing quotes or parts of songs on paper and putting them in your car or in a bag or somewhere you will see them will make your day better when you feel down. The number one thing though is helping other people especially those who others won't help. Their appreciation and smiles make the world seem okay. At a fastfood place or anywhere where the workers are constantly coming in contact with people, if you smile and make a concious effort to have a good day they will pick up on it and mirror it which really does lighten everyone's day...not only yours, but the workers, and their next customers. Just being polite and talking to people really helps.

I already have that attitude. I think everyones beautiful in their own way and I think every person is unique and they all have a good heart in them. I always give benefit of doubt.

I think the only way to keep a positive attitude is to feel confident first. You need to feel good about yourself first. If you feel good about yourself, then you will pour that positive and confident attitude to others around you.

You need to have the "whatever" method. Oh no you are late to work...whatever. Oh no you tripped and fell, how embarrassing? Nah whatever. Just be chill and you need to love life and make everyday a new day. Just think one day you will not be here, so you need to make the most of it and share your uniqueness with everyone else around you.

I think positive attitude is definitely contagious. When someone is always happy and carefree and always energetic, it definitely rubs off on someone else. It can create a nice chain reaction.

Thank you for making this question, it already cheered me up! =)

Try to squeeze into every day every opportunity to be happy. Notice the sun rising in the morning, while riding or driving, notice the trees or lanscape, the more the better.

Remind yourself throughout the day of experiences that occur that bring a smile or relax you, maybe write them down at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

PS and from a Chrisitan perspective knowing my Eternal Retirement Plan is in place gives me peace as well. Studying the historical evidence that Christ did rise from the grave to prove he is who he said he was gave me even more confidence in the Bible on www.str.org

Having a positive attitude is also being a good listener. If you show someone you have the time to listen to them then your attitude will effect them in the most positive way. Good Luck in your class.

Well, I deal with "attitude" issues often..more than I need to. One thing I do is when I see myself giving into a bad attitude, I look for the source, if you will, behind my attitude. Once I find it, or even if I don't find it right away, I don't allow myself to be given in to my emotions. It takes a personal effort, an exertion of your will, to keep your attitude right. You've got to want to have a right, positive attitude first.

This is my favorite subject! One of my favorite quotes is from Wayne Dyer: "What you focus on expands." The more focus you put on the positive things around you, the more positive things there are to focus on. Each night, I list all of the things I'm thankful for. EVERYTHING without judgment. If I'm thankful that I drive a great car, I list it. If I'm thankful for a chocolate chip cookie: on the list. Doing this has made a huge difference in my life. Alan Cohen and Wayne Dyer are my two favorite authors. Check out their books or websites sometime! Have a great day and thanks for asking a positive question!

Pretend! Pretend till you think your teeth will fall out ! It will eventually become you (happy and positive). The mind is a very powerful thing and we all tend to forget this or don't even acknowledge this fact. You will learn to look at life much happier as you fake your way through it and people will learn to love to be around you! They will gravitate to you always and it will shock you when you realize this latter !

It may sound trite, but it works for me, I always look at the bright side of things...and for the really bad things that have no bright side, I simply tell myself it was for a reason. You have to WANT to be positive to actually BE positive. A really good sense of humor helps too.

I take responsibility for my attitude and then understand what I say DOES interact with my attitude! Positive words are what they are and negative conversation can set the world on fire!

You didn't gain that weight in a week. Don't expect to lose it in a week. You are creating your own problem here. Be realistic. It sounds like what you are doing will work, but it will take longer than 7 days.
