My given name is Emily Ann. I have brown hair, blue eyes and i and 5'2. I like to play softball, swing around my friend's tree on a rope that her brother put up, and sing. I want to run a hotel when I grow up called Maison de Fluer (Mansion of Flowers in French 'cause it's fun to say.) I have fairly good looks I guess. I want a real name or something not to unrealistic. That i wouldn't be embarrased to have people actually call me. Oh, and I love dogs, i am a Christian, and i want a pet Lemur.

I am just kind of switching my name, not changing it legally. I don't want a short of my name. People presently call me Emily, not Emily Ann. I just thought that my middle name might help.

Emily is a good name, it has a strong sound but is feminine also. Just like you are now. So drop the Ann, that would be a gain. And it would be a good name for someone who is running a hotel called Maison de Fleurs. With a pet lemur.

What an interesting question! Are you really going to "legally" change it or just like a nickname? I think the choices people have offered so far are pretty good. If you like something a lot, let's say a tree, then you should look up that word in as many languages as you can and pick the one you like best. My daughter's name is Cibeles and I absolutely love her name. In Spain it is the name of the fertility goddess. You could borrow that name. But I don't want to many people using it, you know? I want it to stay original.

How about something old fashioned? Maybe Mildrid, Gertrude, Ardyce, or Bertha. Personally I think your current name is fine. Emily is a nice name.

I love your name! Emily is one of my favorite names. But I can relate -- I have changed my name numerous times, finally deciding my own name isn't half bad. How 'bout a french pronunciation of your name? check out this site for recorded pronunciations : http://french.about.com/library/travel/bl-fr-names-f.htm Try 'Anais' (like the writer: http://www.anaisnin.net/) and Anne and Emilie. You could also go by Ani (Ah-nee) like the singer.( http://www.righteousbabe.com/ http://www.columbia.edu/~marg/ani/)
Hope this helps.
