Besides light and heat, they actually aren't similar at all. Fire is caused by an exothermic chemical reaction involving oxygen gas. Lightning is caused by electrostatic discharge between the ground and clouds, or between clouds.

They both emit heat, light and are energy and they both need immense friction to be 'created'
