okay, i don't know if it's just me, but i get sick of GBLT people getting all up in christians' and conservatives' faces. i mean, admittedly they can be a pain, but they're not the devil, you know?

for instance, my parents are both very conservative. however, they still love me for who i am and i still love them.

and also, i am a church-every-sunday christian. i don't know what i'd do without God. sometimes, it scares me when people tell me i'm going to hell and sh*t. because like, how could He ever do that to me?

i don't know. just thought of that. thoughts?

TommyBoy: i completely agree. and let me ask you (or really anyone) this...does it ever bug you when people just generalize you as "gay" when you are really bi?

i mean, that has been the hardest thing, to just clench my teeth when people talk about "you gays" to me. cuz i mean, i've got nothing against gays, they're sweethearts, but i'm just not gay.

in theory, gay and bi are as different as gay and straight.

maybe i'm being too nitpicky. or maybe i'm having too much time to think now that school's out. haha

blueowlboy: that's an awful sermon. my pastor has never said anything that bad, though i'm not sure brain capacity would allow him to conceive such a thought. (oops, that was mean. but true. i still like him. haha)

haha, i'm not conservative. i'm not democratic either. i think i'll make my own party one day.

and also, what [i'm sorry i forget who] said, by attending a church that condemns gays, well, they aren't in love with the idea, but they don't throw me out. i just don't feel like i'm being wrong by attending, even if they don't all fully accept me being bisexual. because the church has provided a sense of stability in my life. really. it's crazy to hear a bi person praising the church, i know, but i'm almost afraid to let go...i don't know. it's childish, but it's so true.

idlebud: i really wasn't trying to "generalize" anyone BUT the GBLT community. because, whether you realize it or not, "we" tend to often put christians and conservatives and whatnot down. and i'm saying, as nicely as i can, that i think it's a little silly, and, umm, wrong. sorry if it offended you, and sorry all the more if i misinterpreted you. but i don't think that i did.

I agree with you 100%. I haven't been to church in a while but I believe and pray. God loves everyone no matter what people say. Why keep the hate going by bashing christians and conservatives. It does no good.

I have no issues with you, your being a Christian, and am certainly glad your parents are fine...they have little choice, they made you. But, I will have to admit that I am befuddled about this church every Sunday bit...I would hope that it is a church that does not condem your being Gay. If so, you are a hypocrit of the worst kind...you are fostering Gay hate by attending.. On the otherhand,, if you can get up in church and say aloud, I am Gay, and no one cares, then you are at the right church...no difference to me, but there will come a day when it will make a Big difference to you....bank on it. And, let's face it..saying you are a Gay Christian is very similar to saying your are a Gay Republican...YOU ARE NOT A REPUBLICAN, ARE YOU?

It's morally wrong to generalize about anyone based on one aspect of their complex life. Not only is it morally wrong, it's also usually grossly inaccurate. I'm sure there are gay or lesbian republicans, democrats and libertarians, conservatives and liberals, Christians, Jews and atheists. Just as I'm sure there are straight editions of all, as well.

For the GBLT community to deny (or oppose) the diversity of other life interests, religious beliefs and political persuasions within their community is just blatantly stereotypically biased thinking.

I'd think your community would be the last group to start branding and generalizing about anyone's behavior.

Subscript and Follow-up: Yes you DID misinterpret me! I was commiserating and agreeing with you. The "generalization" I as referring to was that which you reported coming your way from the GBLT community who are "getting all up in Christians and conservatives faces".

It's as wrong when they give it out as it is when they receive it.

I agree with you. I go to church once a week. I was even saved 5 years ago. A lot of people tell me I'm going to hell because I'm gay. But, to tell you the truth, I'm not gay. I'm bisexual. There's a difference. I was taught that god loves all of his children no matter what the choices we make or do. Just as long as we believe in him.

"christians" come in as many varieties as there are types of people. My definition of christian is not the same as my brothers. I call myself christian, and he tries to disagree, saying you cannot be gay and christian. that's bull.
I've been to a very loving church, sadly a bit too far from my house, both 100% christian and 30% gay.
In a christian service, in part of a "what's happened this week" section, a man stood up and announced he and his male partner exchanged vows this past week.
THE COUPLE GOT A STANDING OVATION IN A CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
That's my kind of christian.
Fred Phelps also calls himself a christian.
Sunnis and Shiites are both muslems, but do they agree on everything? Obviously not. I don't even know where they disagree.
Christian, by my understanding starts with love. it would seem not everyone agrees, including both non-christians (google "crusades") and also some christians (www.godhatesfags.com)
My brother says he's counseled men struggling with same sex desire. His offer to "help" me fell flat, as I was not struggling, I was reveling in my "same sex desire" considering it a gift from God. It's part of what makes me, ME.
Christians who accept me for what and who I am, and realize I'm not needing to change, have my full support. If you have issues with my being gay, I have issues with you telling me I need to change.

I get as tired of it as of people who insist on preaching "at" people and what is going to happen to them or how their God feels about them or anything they do.

For many, I'm sure it's payback for how they have been treated by people whose religions have replaced their spirituality. As for me, the last day I spent in church was the day I heard a sermon about how Christians might as well not have friends of different faiths because they weren't going to see them in Heaven. That's all it took.

My problem with many conservatives is that they continue to support the system that panders to the extreme religious right for its money and political support, regardless of what it is doing to the economic and social fabric of the country.

I don't begrudge anyone their God. The fault I find is in themselves.

i agree with u! if we are so-called christians, aren't we suppose to love thy neighbor? most christians pass their time judging others instead of praying them. i am a christian and if a person is gay- so be it! long as they do not offend or hurt me, i have no problem with it. Jesus says, come as u r! that means everyone! Gays can be so sweet and accepting of others, y can't us "REGULAR" people? i also get tired of it. nice to know i'm not the only one who thinks this way. God bless you!

God loves everyone. One of my co-workers told me I was going to hell for being a lesbian....about 5 minutes later my girlfriend walked in and I was crying...of course I told her why and like 2 minutes later the girl who told me I was going to hell was talking to my g/f! I was like wtf? I thought she was a homophobe.......I hate ppl who talk **** about ppl then eat em up in the face. Anyways, my co-worker apologized and admitted that my g/f was gorgeous, but still...I'm pissed.....she's a holy roller.......ppl just need to look at what's in front of them and leave God to judge...God doesn't make mistakes, but yet ppl wanna say that gay ppl are wrong, so I guess they are saying that God is wrong.

I give no one grief over their thing, whatever their thing happens to be. Not only is it not cool, it has harsh karmic effects. If you are happy, I'm happy for you, that's how I look at it. The devil is the one who's always talking smack, behind your back.
