Not all heterosexuals feel that way. Some people are ignorant or brainwashed by religion, family, etc. It's the same reasons people are racist or sexist.

I think straight people just respond to things they don't understand by trying to explain them away, like any group of uninformed people does. Most of my straight friends no longer think it is a choice because they see what I go through and realize that choosing all the bad attention would never outweigh the good. It's all education, and I don't mean on here or anywhere other anonymous place, I mean actually discussing it with a person. It's very similar to how middle America doesn't want to think about AIDS until it comes to their backyard, and then it becomes real. If homosexuality is a fetish for those queers in San Francisco or something they flip past on TV, they are never going to try and understand anything about it. They then build uninformed opinions, and are defensive if/when they do need to confront it. Homophobia and hatred are just like any other prejudice, they are seated in ignorance and not easily cured when they have been deeply engrained.

I think that many heterosexuals-which I am one-feel that it is "abnormal" to be gay because of a variety of reasons: religion mainly but also because it takes a woman and man to procreate naturally...so it obviously seems like in nature-it is normal for us to be hetero. There is no purpose for homosexual behavior since it does not serve a purpose other than pleasure...which many see as immoral anyway-at least when not within marriage.
I think the religious viewpoint on homosexuality is a little silly.
First of all-they claim that we are simply spirits within a shell-an earthly shell.... and that we should love each other regardless of this shell. When we die, we go back to our spirit form... But-then they say it's a sin to love another person (a spirit with a shell) because of the shell-that it must be the opposite of yours etc... But if we are nothing but spirits...then why does it even matter...
Anyway.....
I completely believe that it is NOT a choice. The reason I believe that is because I did not choose to be hetero. This is just how I am. I can't change it if I even wanted to. Just like I can't change my race, my ethnicity, my gender (well, without surgery/reprogramming) etc....

I am a hetero female who has had my share of rotten relationships. As I get older (and fatter) I realize that men were (are) more interested in physical attraction. I experienced total disillusionment when I got older and did not have the throng of men that I had when I was younger and in great shape. My point is: I wish I could "choose" to be gay. Women are much easier to live with, in some ways. The house gets cleaned, food gets prepared, clothing is maintained. Women also are more affectionate, more likely to massage your feet and spend a lot more time focusing on non-sexual areas of the body when they are making love...all without being "told" too. I hear much from homophobics who insist that gays try to recruit with ads, tv programs, etc. I've seen these "offensive" enticements, so why am I not gay?

I am a heterosexual... I don't try to analyze the mind of others... For me personally, I do not understand it... It seems gross to me... It is like someone saying they are attracted to dogs or something unnatural. I am not trying to bash anyone, I am just trying to give my perspective. I don't hate the homosexual population, it is just something that grosses alot of heterosexual people out... It is hard to explain because much like I will never understand how homosexuality looks to homos, homos will never see it through the eyes of a heterosexual.

Here's the thing. If people don't want for their sexual preference to be judged, then they probably shouldn't show that preference in parades and banners and organizations. I am a fan of someones business being their business unless they impose that business upon other people. You can't really say that religion is wrong and then want to get married. It is an institution created by the christian religion where you take someone to be your lover and partner before God and man till death do you part. That could be considered offensive.

Just as it would be hard for us to imagine naturally breathing water and not air. Being heterosexual is the only reference point that we have...everyone assumes a certain commonality of experience and that homosexuality is a departure from that point.

Straights resent Gay people becasue we are superior in every way to them...face it, we are God's chosen people, he makes only 10% of the people on Earth gay...that is an elite club, isn't it. We have better looks, better jobs, better heads, better clothes, better cars, better houses, better clubs, and we are far more creative than they are. And, we can dance! Is it any wonder that so many straights are so bitter about not being in the clique? Straights do their best to put us down in an attempt to make themselve look better...doesn't work, but they keep trying..

Because they can't understand why God would make a person that he thinks is wrong. People look to the Bible for all the answers to the world. The truth is Christians believe in Free Will. If they fill so strongly about Free Will why are they so pushy about their opinions?
