Does anyone remember the t.v. show Young Riders??

Oh I do...I taped them when they were on; loved that show. I think that one of the seasons was just released on DVD.

Stephen Baldwin and Josh Brolin were William "Buffalo Bill" Cody and James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickock respectively. Its interesting to note that these two historical figures really were in the Pony Express for a time and did know each other.

Young Riders aired on TV almost 20 years ago. It was a series based on the Pony Express. It is an old western series. When the West was still largely unsettled, there was no such thing as postal service. Instead, there was a company called "The Pony Express." Think of the Pony Express like a relay race. A piece of parcel was picked up at point A by one horse rider and he rode to point B. At point B, the first rider would then hand off the parcel to the second rider and so on and so forth until it reached its destination. It was a very dangerous job because there were highway men who would steal the parcel. The people who took these jobs were oftentimes very young men, who had no family. The fatality rate was high and no one who had a family to support would take the risk, hence the name "Young Riders."
