The ol' mental arithmetic is a bit rusty, I'm afraid, and anymore I use pencil and paper if I'm not using a calculator...

Either way, it took me about six or seven minutes each; checked 'em.

Oh, well... Hey, over fifty, OK? We don't expect that sort of mental agility at my age...

i'd say about 20-30 seconds for each of the first two. the third i couldn't do in my head. the fourth took closer to 30 seconds, but when i checked with the calc. i made a minor error.

I have a math degree, but nowadays it seems I can't even add two digit numbers without a calculator.

in your head, reconstruct 12010 times 482 as 10000x482 + 2000x482 + 10x482; i.e. 4,820,000 + 964,000 + 4820 = 5,784,000 + 4820 = 5,788,820

apply the same strategy to the other calculations

Sorry, no. Well perhaps I could if I had an hour but that hardly seems worth the time.
