"Everyone" doesn't shy away...it takes character to be authentic and embrace all the challenges that come ones way. It takes courage to do things in spite of fear. Not everyone is there, but the ones that are have the most rewarding lives. It's an adventure...not for the faint hearted.

You've kind of already answered your question-courage or simply repeating the life their parents led-lack of motivation but before we get too segmental her its awfully difficult for a man having to support a family to leave a sure thing-paycheck hes now getting for something that may or may not succeed. A lot of people don't have the luxury to leave their humdrum jobs for bills come every month and if not paid well who is going to risk being out in the cold in the street. SEGMENTAL should be JUDGEMENTAL>

I think the reason is that we often get stuck in our chronic routine and habits that its hard to change up, good or bad. And also because they probably dont be at the breaking point or it being a must that it changes or maybe they really haven't reaped any seroius consequenses or ultamatums. Normally it will take financial breakdown all the way to the bottom. or something very disturbing happening to wake you up.

I think most people are just as afraid of success as they are of failure. Think about it: If you grab an opportunity and it turns out to be a success, of course you'd be elated. But then, you'd begin to wonder: "Do I have what it takes to maintain this success? What will people think of me if I fail? What do I do for an encore?" (Think Donald Trump.)
Stepping out of one's comfort zone is scary, and the majority of people don't have the courage to go there. You sound like you do. Don't be discouraged. Keep your dream in front of you and go for it!

I can only speak for myself, but as a Christian I'm not interested in "improving" the quality of my life by chasing after temporal gains and trusting in uncertain riches. I'd rather seek God's will for my life and trust in Him than follow some person's idea of what will improve my life.

I think sometimes people are scared of failure. People know that with a higher salary and title comes more responsibility. At times people panic; their confidence depletes.
