Luke Appling, who played for the Chicago White Sox from 1930 to 1950. His anecdotal pitch counts range from 19 to 24. One storied at bat went as follows: four fouls, one ball, six fouls, one ball, fourteen (!) fouls, and then two more balls for a walk.

I dunno but I remember watching a Dodgers game last year and some guy hit like 14 fouls in an at bat. He finally hit a homer on like the 19th pitch! Probably the strangest thing I've seen watching a baseball game.
...I don't think the people above me get the question....it's not how many are possible, it's how many has someone actually hit in an at bat....

Good grief people, get your head out of your but and actually read the question. I dont know of the exact number but I remember the number 27 for some reason. I believe it was in 1969 but I can be sure of that.

infinite.
P.S. Since so many of us answered "Infinite", and only a few actually deciphered your language, perhaps you should try to not ask such questions that are left to be interpreted in many ways. And on a personal note, don't disable your e-mail after firing one off to me you spineless moron.

it is unlimited, as long as none are hit into the air and can be caught.
