believe it or not but the best thing for a burn is hot water for burns from hot objects on skin get the burn under semi hot water and slowly increase the temperature till it feels cold almost the worse the burn the longer you should stay under
when you are done not only will it NOT hurt it will not even leave a mark
for sunburn get in tub and begin to fill it letting it slowly rise and increasing the heat as you are able till you are in the tub all the way the burn will not hurt when you get out and you will not itch anymore

cold yogurt, cold hair conditioner, noxema, papaya, lavender oil, or tea (brew a mild tea like chamoile, cool and apply compresses) Do not take long cold showers..this can actually make it worse!!!! You need to really watch a sunburn that causes itchy, burning painful skin.. You can get a blood infection from being sunburnt. Your increased body temp can cause the bacteria already in your body to mass bread. Watch for signs of nausea, vomitting, severe headache or joint pain. Also, any skin swelling or tightening..if this happens you need to call doctor. I know from experience..i was in hospital for 4 days after a sunburn on my legs!

i get burns really bad, i always pour 2 cups of milk in a warm bath and lay under the water for about 1/2 hour. the milk has a soothing feel and coats the skin. it works just the same as aloe vera. It has always worked for my family and I. plus i learnt it in nursing so it is very legitimate. hope that works

Also good is anything designed for hemmerhoids (Gross, I know but it really works!) THis stuff contains an anaesthetic that really eases the pain of insect bites and sunburn, as well as what it's designed for. I use Lanacaine and also Preparation H - and no I don't have roids!

Fragrance free lotion, or hair conditioner in a pinch. The baking soda and vinegar things work well, too. I have actually rubbed vinegar straight on my skin, which stinks but works for a little bit.

mix some water with baking soda and pack it on, the baking soda helps the itch, that's what they used before calamine lotions and aloe veras. Also ice helps.

Brew a strong tea (green tea actually works best). Saturate a clothe with the tea, and place it on the affected area.
