I have to defend them in my house-we flip between the Rangers-Astros and Yankee games.

If by best you mean what team has been the most successful then it would be the Yankees:
26 World Championships, 39 Pennants, and 45 Playoff Appearances
The most of any other MLB team.

The eighth word in your "question" says it all...HISTORY. What have you done for me lately? If you're talking baseball, then, by all means, the Yankees are the best in history. But how many of their championships have you been alive for? Most of those rings came between 1926 and 1956. And I'll bet you're nowhere near 50 years old are you? The most sucessful sports franchise is probably hockey's Montreal Canadiens...but that's another story.

Right now, the Yankees are too rich, and they haven't won a World Series for several years. Anyone not from NY who roots for the Yankees is a bandwagoner.

you know what happens when you "assume" something, right?
Believe it or not, missy the yankees are NOT the only team in MLB.
Or, if you mean they are the best at buying all thier champions or whining when they lose or being evil...then you are correct.
