As for your friends dad, who knows. Maybe he was so diluded after an 18 year long marriage to someone he didn't love, that the slightest bit of passion made him feel like this new girlfriend is the one...I don't know. Take into consideration that theres a really good chance he felt like his ex wife was "the only one" when they got married 18 years ago....
Unfortunately, no one can put love in a box and stay it takes a certain amount of time to find it, since it's different for everyone. I think a lot of times people think they are in love when they are not. Sometimes love comes along when you have truely given up hope on the topic, and when you least expect it. Again, it's different for everyone (Don't forget to ask yourself if you personally believe in "one true love" at all...Some people don't. Also ask yourself if you believe that "true love lasts forever." It may not. I'm sure your answers to this will vary as time goes on in your life.)

Age is just a number. Some people are mature enough to be truly committed when they're 16 and some people never do. Believe it or not there are married men in their 70's that still fool around.

possibly...many people get married for the wrong reasons. especially when they were young. Someone who has more life experience had a better chance of learning who they are. Thus, able to get into a relationship with the right reasons. Having say that , it does not mean someone older will always know what they really one. They are just more realistic with their expectations.

Is isn't a matter of age,,,,,,,,,it is a matter of who. After many years w/ the same person, some ppl just fall out of love. 40 years from now, there may be a new "ONE"
