You need to provide more details in order to get the answer you need to correct the problem. However most PC's hang and do weird things sometimes simply because they don't have enough memory. A lot of people seem to think that they should be able to have a dozen windows open and chat and download music and other things all at the same time and the computer will lock up because it has ran out of resources. Try doing only a minimum of things at a time and see if that helps or go ahead and add more ram memory to your PC.

If it is an old computer running an old version of windows from windows 2000 or earlier than it because it cannot run the new software fast enough.
Also, it likely does not have enough RAM memory.
If it is a Windows XP, then you have a real problem! Scan if for a virus and spy-ware. If none, then contact a repair person to review your system.

I dont think you have a virus it just sounds like your computer is in sleep mode which is very common. You need to right click anywhere in the background(with out any windows open)and go to properties and screen saver- set it to not come on as often as it is coming on. Example if it is set for 15 min. of inoperable use set it for 30. min. or just turn it off completely. But it has this so it isn't constantly using power and it lets the fan and motherboard cool off.

Your computer is 'hanging'...getting stuck in sleep mode. You may have a virus, or simply needs a 'tune-up'. There are several downloadable programs to help you either way. Try the tune-up first...if that doesn't work (should also look for viruses)...then you may need additional assistance.

It sounds as if it's overheating. Try running it with the side panel removed. If it doesn't hang, then that's your problem, and you need to clean it/have it cleaned, to remove all of the dust that's built up. Of course, you may want to try asking another question, and actually tell us some specifics this time.

aryou using a very heavy screen saver which takes too long to load (images, music or the like)? Is your machine configured to defrag or do anything when idle? Is it free of spyware, virus and the like?
