I like Alex Lifeson of Rush the best because Rush rocks and Alex has a lot of talent.
Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge (was in Creed) is a great heavy metal/grunge guitarist.
Eric Clapton is great.
The Edge of U2 is great but not the best like so many say.

Gotta go w/ ALEX LIFESON too!
Always great to see other Rush fans here!
Sadly underrated player. The guy pretty much turned me on to appegios. (sp?) & his abandoned style still amazes me. Very inventive player.

Alexi Laiho of children of bodom, not only is the best ive ever heard but he knows more than the guitar. From age 5 he was sent to a music conservatory in finland to study cello, when he was 8 he picked up violen and piano. at 13 he started the guitar, and quickley became a prodigy. hes my fav because he overcame an atempted suicide at 18 and came back twice as good a guitarist.

Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Jimi, Carlos Santana, Richie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend and Jeff Healey are all special to me. The list could go on forever, but I hate typing. (lol) AND MY SON (who brings Stevie Ray Vaughn to life), who has temporaily retired from playing cause some drunk smashed his axe at a party (grrrr)

I would have to say Eric Clapton. I just think he is great. I am mesmerized when I watch him play.
Santana is another great one. Jimmy Hendrix. Stevie Ray Vaughn. Any of those four when I listen to them play guitar can melt away the world for a little while.

Phil Keaggy who I know you never heard of. Also Allan Holdsworth and Larry Carlton. All three are great. The first is in Christian music and has a lot of amazing solo CDs out. The latter two are in jazz, Holdsworth in fusion and Carlton modern jazz.

Bethany Dillon! She is an awsome guitar player and has been writing her own songs (and playing the guitar with them) since she was six! I wanted to play an electric guitar until I saw her play her acoustic one, then I really wanted that kind because it sounds so beautiful and awsome when she plays it. She is also very nice. My cousin and I got a picture with her.
