Yes, car horn sounds can be distracting along with sirens. Sometimes I've heard a siren and start to pull over (with the adrenalin flowing) only to discover that the sound is on the car radio!

I don't think it would be a bad idea to not have such sounds playing on the radio. Perhaps if the artist likes that particular addition it could be included on CD and in concert, but excluded for radio broadcast. It isn't uncommon to have different cuts of a song.
I don't recall ever hearing car honks on the radio, but I know of one song in particular that plays on the radio and has a siren in it. Every time I hear it I think it is a real siren, even though I know it is coming, it is just instinct to think it is real I guess.

I don't know about making them illegal (we have enough laws) but I would certainly like to see the FCC prohibit them. I don't listen to radio turned up that loud, but I know that when there's a siren, or the sound of tires screeching in a commercial, it always startles me.

I agree! Horns and sirens. While we're at it, I wouldn't mind getting rid of cell phone ring sounds too!

If you can't concentrate over the radio turn it down or turn it off. It is the driver's responsibility not the radio station's.

Yes! Also, radio and television commercials should also not include telephones ringing. I mean, good grief, how do they expect us to sleep through boring shows with all that racket going on!
