I havent's seen the new movie the Lake House but tell me...?

Question

The movie is supposed to be about two people who write to each other. The catch one lives in the future and the other in the past. What is the difference in the time periods? Two years apart. So my question is why dont they just look each other up if it is just a two year time difference??? How can they make a whole movie about this?

Apparently they mail each other through a "magic" mail box?

Is it really worth my money to go watch it at the movies? Convince me.

Ha. I thought that exact same thing...I mean why is it only TWO years apart? I don't get it. I haven't seen it, but that's just strange to me.

This movie is a remake of a Korean movie that was originally released in 2000, the Korean movie (IL MARE) is one of my all time favorites, and from the synopsis I have read about the Lake House on the website .. they pretty much stick to the story, It is a good story and I recommended it.. the original might be better though.. just because they usually are...

I haven't seen the movie but if Keanu Reeves is in it I will see it. It sounds like the movie "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour. They were living in different time periods.

i think that they do decide to meet up at a particular time, but the one whois in the past doesn't turn up and the think something must have happened to him. i am sure it is baased on a book or another movie because the plot seems very familiar
