I would sugguest that you name the turtle either just a name you like or watch the turtle for a few days and see what his personality is and pick a name based on that

or like from the book Tales of the 4th Grade Nothing , Peter named his turtle and his brother ate it...then he got a dog at the end and named him Turtle...so you could go with dog to keep people wondering.

My first thoughts were Creeper or Pokey, but the design and coloring on the shell may help when choosing a name also.
