I think its the state of Florida... The Sunshine State is home to Florida, Florida State, Miami, South Florida, Central Florida, and to a lesser extent Florida A&M, Florida International and Florida Atlantic. Collectivly I think this is a pretty impressive group...

Texas has:

Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Houston, Baylor, Rice, TCU, SMU, UTEP

That's not to mention all the Div II teams like Texas State, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin, and Sam Houston.

It's not a bad group of teams, either. But, once we get past Texas and Florida, I don't think other states can compete.

I'm going have to say Nebraska Cornhuskers is the best team in college football. Sure they had some bad luck couple years ago with the new Head Coach Bill Callahan and some records were snapped by some other Big 12 schools that beat Nebraska for the first time in years. But Nebraska has the longest and still holds the most sell outs for the football games since 1962. For more info on the Great Nebraska Team here is a link to it.

Florida does, but sorry, USF and UCF are mediocre, and FAMU, FIU, and FAU don't belong in Division I.

And, Cato, UT, TCU, TTU, and A&M might be good, but Rice, Houston, Baylor, and SMU are awful. And Prairie View, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Texas Southern, and SF Austin are Division I-AA, not Division II. West Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Commerce, Tarleton State, and the like are Division II schools.

Clint is also wrong, as there are more Division II and III schools in Pennsylvania than in any other state.

California, Texas, and Florida no doubt neck and neck with producing best college players and best college programs. I may have to give the nod to Florida because of the Big 3 of FSU, U of F, and U of MIAMI.

CALIFORNIA TEAMS AND FINAL 2005 RANKINGS:

USC - #2
UCLA - #18
FRESNO STATE - #22 , ALMOST BEAT USC
CAL - UNRANKED
STANFORD - UNRANKED
SAN DIEGO STATE

NO DOUBT THAT CALI PRODUCES THE BEST COLLEGE AND PRO QB'S THOUGH. PAC-10 HAD 7 STARTING QB'S AT SOME TIME IN NFL LAST SEASON.

As much as I want to say ohio because of tOSU, i'm gonna go with florida for obvious reasons. Three of the most dominant D-1A teams in the nation are located there. You could make a case for California though, with USC and Cal becoming a solid team.

texas cuz we got the national champs plus at least 3 other teams ranked in the top 25 every year. TCU, Texas AM, Texas Tech, and we have the sunbelt champs for 4 of the last 5 yrs North Texas, and we have more D 2 and D3 football teams than any other state i think.

I think it's definitely Florida. In addition to the big three (UF, FSU, UM) U of South Florida is starting to put together a decent program.

id have to say florida with all the power collages and the argument for texas is certainly there, but kentucky is no slouch..if you want to get into div II and III and naia with northern kentucky, murray state university, transylvania, and kentucky weslyn, the winningist team in ncaa basketball history, along with the number 8 winnings team in ncaa history Louisville. Kentucky may not have been even thought about when this question was asked, and i agree about texas and florida, but kentucky would have to be up there
