Don't let it get messy! Actually, divide it into "zones." Zone 1-the dresser; zone 2-the floor; zone 3-the closet; zone 4-desk or under the bed. Then spend 15 minutes a day in one zone. By the end of a week or two (or more depending on how messy it is), your room will be neat and you won't have to spend much time at all cleaning it. Every morning, make your bed. Every evening throw your clothes in the hamper.

I used to work cleaning in a hospital and time (or lack of it) was a big issue. I still clean my house in the same order we used there this saves lot's of time believe me. First get a trash bag go through your room and start throwing out any trash and while your at it if you tend to have "junk drawers" or places where you toss old mail, newspapers, magazines etc. go through these now toss any thing you don't want/need. Next strip your room, take off your bedding & round up any dirty laundry remove it from your room to be washed. To save time you can temporarily set your trash and laundry right outside the door to be removed when you finish. Next look around anything that doesnt really belong in your room take out and put away (this is a good time to take care of that trash and laundry) . By now you should have a pretty clean slate, start at the top dusting windows, light fixtures, celieng fans any thing high. Then work your way down dusting table tops, picture frames, knick-knacks,etc.. Finally finish by vacuming and or sweep/mopping. I know this seems like a lot at first glance but basicaly your cleaning in layers instead of a bunch of back and forth it really makes a difference. I hope this helps.

Stack the books in a neat file, folk all clothes using the roll over concept and stick them in the drawer un the rite places, vacuum the carpet only the sections that are visible for the time being. Use a cloth to whipe the wooden areas of your room furnature. Stack clothes in closets, and systematically put your shoes one side or under the bed in your reach. Close all closet doors and close all drawers, and empty your rubbish bin. Turn off the main light in the room, and turn on the lamp. Then you will have a seemingly neat room. Trust me, I did all of this in 6 minutes for 10 years - it works!

I used to help my son clean his room, first I would go outside and bring the garbage bin to his window, take of lid, go back to the room open the window. Everything that's on the floor goes out the window into the bin. Worked pretty well for me. He does a good job himself now. I don't have to help him anymore, LOL
