What is the difference between the SPCA and the Humane Society?

They're the same thing. One might be "privately" run and the other partially "taxpayers money" run.

Not much, I think. I know the Humane Society rounds up stray animals, gives a few away, and slaughters the rest.

Same functions different organizations...both NO KILL shelters though.
