sweetheart don't worry... all babies develop differently. Some learn to do things faster than others... some babies are stubborn and wont take a cup and just want the bottle. If you're worried talk to your baby's doctor.
My son will be a year next week (our first baby) so we worry about how he's developing.
But honestly, my best advice is, if you're worried talk to baby's doctor

Nothing to worry about. Babies are all different. And very often smart. My daughter hid the fact that she could sit up and drink from a bottle or sippy cup for at least a month, at least from me and my mom (her day care provider). We would hold the bottle for her or lay her down. My hubby would not, and she had been doing it for him for some time. I was mad at him when I found out.
Oh, and being worried about that is perfectly normal. I do it all the time. :)

Maybe you're offering too much variety too soon? This is just an off the wall theory, but maybe try offering two things every day. Say at breakfast offer her oatmeal & bananas, then again at dinner. Still give her the bottle. But put her in her high chair and offer the same things over and over again until she gets used to the sight, texture, and smell of it. They say some babies have to be offered something 15 times before they'll take it! Maybe by offering her different things in an effort to find something she'll like you aren't giving her time to explore the food first. Just an idea! April

Every baby developes at different rates. Try to slowly introduce your baby to a sippy cup. You can even find them with spouts designed for babies who are learning to use them. Some sippy cups are made with spouts that are more like a bottle's nipple so that your baby can adjust more easily to the transition. If you are really worried about your child's developement, talk to your pediatrician. He or she will be able to tell you if your baby is developing abnormally or not.

Well, the question isn't if she is developing normally....because that's hard to say just by your question. But no, she should be holding her bottle! Don't feed her, make her feed herself!!!! The first step is to get her to drink by herself, then get a sippy cup with a soft spout!

Spend this time enjoying your baby! Every mom worries if their baby is ok. The baby at playgroup has been doing this for a while and mine isn't. Etc Etc.
Each baby is a different pace, she is still a little one. She'll get it.

babies develop at their own pace... and i think your baby is too young for a cup. try the cup at 9 months if she's holding the bottle and it she still doesn't want it don't force it... she'll want it one day... good luck
