well i'm sorry, religion freaks, but your complaints go to the original book, not the movie. the movie itself was pretty good - very close to hte book, except hte true id of sophie, which confused me a little, but *shrug.
i won't even comment about christianity and religion in general

I stopped listening tothe audiobook to go see the movie...mistake...gone are about 80% of the details and OMIGOD moments of revelation in the book. The author has a way of tying together things I have a vague knowledge of...things I read or was taught in school...and giving a spin on them that just makes it seem as if what is make believe is actually true...and the sense of wonder I got as I went from revelation to revelation...and how they all seemed to add up to one great big picture...has been so diluted in the movie...that I thought I was watching a tv movie of the week.
And as soon as I went back into the audiobook the sense of wonder returned....and I am not even finished...and I already know how it turns out!
I feel cheated...I made a mistake...like the dog with the bone in his mouth who sees a dog with a bigger bone in the river below him...and lets go of the one in his mouth. Well I heard a big splash right around the tenth minute of the movie...and cheated myself by not ending the experience right then.
By the way...has anyone told the religous caste here at Yahoo answers that the Davinci Code is a work of fiction? Fiction...as in make believe? I suspect that a great many people feel the foundations that support their belief in Christ and all things mighty...cracking at the base. Pity they do not take advantage of the fear they feel...and use the knowledge of their lack of faith to shore up the foundations of their faith... if a storybook can make them doubt the King of kings...and the Lord of lords.
the audiobook is a piece of work...the movie was very disappointing, flat and without any real cinematic life. The Jason Vorhees slasher pictures had more bark to them...and I am not a fan...at all.
If you are into audiobooks or like to sit down with a book...you just might be in for a great experience.
God bless and Godspeed.

No. It hardly compares to the book. This isn't an encouragement to read, however by reading the book you actually understand and go through what the whole debate was about, and is more detailed. Since they obviously had to shorten it for the movie you loose some of the detective work and what engaged you in the story. I give this movie a C, C-. Good book though, pretty hard to put it down. Important to note Tom Hank as an actor was horible in this movie.

it was awful. the only reason i watched it was because the ppl i was with got the dvd. After an hour i wasn't even interested in seeing the end of the movie and i just wandered off.
The book sucked as well because of lack of character development not to mention attempting to peddle fiction as fact.
I thought the movie was boring and non-sensical...but that's just me.
