I believe the band was practicing in someone's basement and there was a water heater in the corner. There was a switch on it that switched from AC to DC. Someone in the band saw this and thought it waould be a good name. It also had something to do with high energy or high voltage.
By the way, that whole 'after christ devil comes' or any variation of it is a load of crap made up by bible thumpers who go fishing for satanic references in rock music.

AC = Alternating Current (outlet power)
DC = Direct Current (battery power)
or
Acka Dacka
-----
"It has been said by Angus Young that the name's origins are from the back of his sister Margaret Young's sewing machine. The acronym "AC/DC" stands for "Alternating Current/Direct Current" and refers to electrical currents. Angus Young liked the way that this name symbolized the band's energy and "High Voltage Rock'n'Roll".:(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC/DC)
"In Australia (where AC/DC originates) this band is often referred to (mainly by blue collar types) as Acka Dacka."

well in defination for electrical terms:
AC=Alternating Current (where frequency applies, e.g. 50Hz in residential power supply)
DC=Direct current (where frequency does not apply)
