This may sound like the most insane question. Is there a way to light a light bulb w/out it being screwed in?

Then again I think if there was that can cause a fire, because a lit light bulb can't just be placed on like a floor, desk, table, etc. ?

solder a extension cord with the female end cut off to the screw in part and another wire to the end of the bulb. tape up very very well and plug in to electric outlet. the bulb will get hot and can cause a fire if left on a combustable object

I am not sure that I fully understand your question.You can use a simple 9v battery to check if a bulb works. If you are worried about fire. If the bulb isn't screwed in all the way there is no electricity present unless the switch is turned on. Did I help? I hope so.

you can dimmly light a bulb with a potatoe and two wires. Both wires must be in the potatoe but separated from each other at opposite ends. The other ends of the wire need to be wrapped around the end of the bulb but not touching each other to complete the circut. This only works with large potatoes and is tricky to do but it can work. Hold the bulb at the bottom with the black wire in your hand against the screw in part and touch the black wire to the center of the contact while holding the green wire with your mouth

Somehow you gotta have these special wires and then you need a solution of salt and water or a pickle and it should light up pretty good.
