I agree. I suppose our best bet is hydrogen. People should start ditching their SUVs now, in case we need the fuel in the future. Who knows, we might need it for war or something important.
Right now we have hybrid cars, which were invented in 2000, EVs (electric vehicles), and scientists are developing a longer-lasting fuel cell. America already consumes 25% of the world's total oil product, we need to do something about it now, before it becomes an even bigger problem in the future.

BMW and many other companies already have vehicles that use hydrogen in a combustion engine. That is by far the best alternative fuel. Although corn and sugar cane are being used more and more to help stretch the supply of gasoline. Also, if you have a diesel vehicle, you can buy used cooking oil that has been cleaned and burn it in your diesel motor. It is actually better for your engine than diesel is. It just smells like french fries going down the road, and has a much cleaner exhaust.

I think we will try to find an alternative fuel before we actually run out (like right now) or we might not find one in time if we look just years before. And if we don't find one then we will live without heat and power (since most electricity is generated by oil and natural gas) until they find one. So they are looking for some right now. Take for example the cars that run partially on electricity, the cars that run on hydrogen, and the buses that run on cooking oil.

Even if oil runs out in 44 years, we won't be using gasoline to fuel our cars way before that happens. The biggest concern now is the pollution from burning fossil fuels. The affects of global warming is evident now with damage already caused by us.
Automobiles as we know them now will be fazed out in time and a new clean generation of cars will be our transportation.

They already put 10% ethanol into the gas I buy. The pump said that. I read a story about a guy who converted his deisel car to run on used frying oil. He stoped at Chinese restaurants across the country to refuel. I'm not sure how much he paid. A bear at Yosemite tried to eat his car. A friend of mine is freinds with that guy. It really happened.

37 + 44 = old/dead. I'm not too worried that ths is going to happen in my lifetime. Besides, most of our current autos aren't going to be running in 44.6 years. I've burried several cars, the oldest was a 1978.

Don't worry about it. They're finding more oil right now. And sooner or later we WILL drill in ANWR. Besides, the car you have now will not be here in 44.6 years.
