There are several factors to consider when choosing which is the best home business for you. The first thing is to check to see if they are in good standing with the Better Business Bureau. Then you avoid the scams. Then you have to look at start-up costs, make sure there aren't a lot of hidden costs such as purchasing leads, etc. Always check out the compensation plan before investing. Ask what the actual incomes are of people who have achieved the different levels, to see if they are coinciding with what you are hoping for. A very important factor is the product. You have to believe in the product in order to market it, so some investigation is necessary there. There are some excellent products out there but you have to be sure to get ahead of the company's hyper-growth stage or you will just make pocket money as opposed to serious income. Another thing to consider is the baby-boomers. If you can stay a step ahead of them you cannot go wrong. Supplying what the boomers are looking for, if you get in ahead of them, is an 18 year window of opportunity! Just like Gerber did in the 50's, Fisher Price and Mattel in the 60's, real estate in the 70's, etc.
What the baby boomers want now is health products and anti-aging formulas. Look at what Botox is doing! Think about Arthritis and how many of them are plagued with this and other auto-immune deficiencies. What if you had a product that could help them look and feel better and it were backed with medical validation, and watch your business grow daily?
Hope this helped.

Think of all your interests & ask yourself if any of those could be expanded into a business. Just keep in mind...what's your expertise? What are your interests? What could you imagine yourself doing?
By researching the prospect of starting your own business -- what it entails, what you need to know, helpful hints, etc -- you'll feel better prepared to take that plunge.
I found some book titles that are relevant to your specific question:
* 101 Internet Businesses You Can Start from Home by Susan Sweeney
* The Best Home Businesses for the 21st Century by Paul Edwards
* Selling Online: How to Become a Successful E-Commerce Merchant by Jim Carroll
* I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was: How to Discover What You Really Want and How to Get It by Barbara Sher
* I Don't Know What I Want, But I Know It's Not This: A Step-by-Step Guide to Finding Gratifying Work by Julie Jansen
* The Best Internet Businesses You Can Start by Marian Betancourt
* The Shoestring Entrepreneur's Guide to Internet Start-Ups by Robert Spiegel
* Making a Living Without a Job : Winning Ways For Creating Work That You Love by Barbara Winter
I also posted some article links in the source box.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Are you interested in computers?
With a good market, you can probably get some buddies to start a computer shop. Pool together a some $ and get urselves popular hardware to build comps.
If you really got no start up money, then just Photoshop some templates for people on the net. IF SOMEONE LIKES UR ART (most important criteria) , u could probaly get like $5 each template. Once started, they'll take like 15 minutes each template.
Also check out Google AdSense. make ur own website, and Google will give u some ads to post. you'll receive a small sum for each time someone clicks on your ads. It's not much at first, but building up a really large and organized website could earn you a nice amout.

To be honest, start something you are passionate about, it will be easier to work that business from home. I started a business from home and it's very successful, but it's not a passion, and I find it hard to be enthusiastic about it. I'll be selling it soon. Make a list of the things you love, see what people need in those areas, and then see if you can fill that fill that need from home - ebooks aren't a bad option if you have some specialised knowledge...
Good luck!!
