I go for vacations in Greece every year. I prefer the end of June, July or September (beautiful, warm weather).
I don't like the millions of tourists who visit Greece during August.
During August the best destination in Greece is Athens, it's so calm, so beautiful.
If you visit Athens, Santorini island, Corfu or Patmos try also Orthodox Christian Easter. It's as a dream(!) but sometimes it rains during that period.

Greece and Cyprus are countries for all year around!
Depending on your wills, plans, habits, preference, the seasons can be identified!
If you like swimming, not packed with tourists, hot days and comfortable evenings/ nights then September - October might be the time!

I have just come back from Greece in May, it was already warm in Athens. To walk around the sights, etc, was still pleasant and not too crowded. Swimming at a deserted beach on an island was brisk and cool but beautiful, water so clear you can see the bottom.

That really depends on where you want to go. If it's Athens, the capital, I'd say August because although it's hot, most locals are on holiday so there's not so much of noise and traffic jams...If it is a Greek island you'd like to visit, I'd suggest September. the weather is still sunny and warm, yet they are not so crowded as in July and August. And apparently rates are cheaper...

Hello dear!
Well, it depends on your understanding and will of enjoyment!
If you are fun of the sea, swimming, and the short, try September! It is the best time, hot (not extremely) and dry (pleasant)!
Of course if you can, don't think, run right now! Greece is always hospitable to all!
Enjoy!

I agree September is the best time. It's still hot, but everything is a lot cheaper and the place isn't full of tourists.

if you want to be surrounded with a million tourists, go in the summer.....if you want a little less confusion and crowdedness, go in september....it is still warm there, but most tourists will be gone.
