my closet is a wonderous place with coats, hats and gloves.boots, rubbers (for your feet) and umbrellas. why would you ever want to leave ?

I once had a gay guy come out of my closet, when I was about 16, and at first I was like all cool with that, and just explained to him that it wasn't my thing, but then I noticed his white collar and kicked his *** all the way back to the Vatican where he belongs.
It wasn't a direct flight, though. He had a three hour layover at the Neverland ranch.

coming out of the closet is derived from the phrase skeletons in the closet. when you have skeletons in the closet you have secrets and if no one nos your gay you were probably keeping it a secret until now.

It's just an expression. like when some says they "have skeletons in the closet".
The figurative "closet" is "where" people hide their secrets.

because it's like they are alone in the dark in a small space so to speak I imagine because most people around them are straight and they have a hard time facing them so they hide because of social rejection
