What can I do to get motivated? I started to drink coffee about an hour ago and it is almost working, but I truely dread it! What do you all guys do to get motivated to do something you hate?

I am sorry to say this, but it is my personal opinion that when we seek something to motivate us to perform some task, what we are really saying is that we lack the discipline necessary to do the things that must be done. It is a pleasant fiction to believe that there is some simple technique that will magically change us in some way so that we get these things done painlessly and promptly. We should just give up the idea that wwe can somehow make ourselves "feel" like doing these things, and just do them because they need to be done. It won't get any better waiting for you to get motivated.

That being said, perhaps you just lack a system for getting your chores done. There are a couple of good books: Confessions of an Organized Homemaker and Sidetracked Home Executives, that might help you out. Can't come up with the names of the authors off the top of my head, but if you go to Amazon or Barnes & Noble.com, you should be able to find them.

Good Luck!

I have a method to motivate myself to clean. I hate to clean and feel like there are too many decisions to make on where to put things and it can become overwhelming. I have a small house and not much room and lot's of hobbies. But the method that works for me is
COPE
C - clean - this is basically throw away, clean counters, take out trash, clean kitty litter, clean dirty dishes .
O - organize - put things where they should go, take dishes out of dishwasher and back in cabinets, put up misplaced items.
P - polish - this is mainly exterior things like dusting, cleaning mirrors, fluffing pillows, etc.
E - embellish - this includes the nice little extras like hang a picture you've been wanting to get up. cut a flower from your yard and put in a vase. Hang fancy hand towels in your bathroom.

You can commit to an hour and spend 15 minutes on each section, or 20 minutes by spending 5 minutes on each section. I suggest setting a timer for each increment of time.

The point is you have given yourself some guideline and framework so you will at least touch on everything that needs to be done after a while. Also, by giving yourself a time line you will not get "stuck" doing any one thing because you know that you've got to move on. In addition, you will feel a sense of accomplishment because you set a goal and accomplished it. Even though these sessions probably won't take care of everything all at once - eventually you'll get it done and have a system to tackle it.

Small house huh? Well go to a nearby Dollar Store buy yourself some large containers....trash bag...cleaning solvents...paper towels...and such. Picture your home....Not House!....clean.
Good music is a good motivator...start by doing a little organizing....thus the containers. Start one room at a time..but if you happen to come across something in another room that needs your attention...go ahead. Finish one job...go to the next.
Little by little you will notice a difference....As long as you stay organized you will not feel so stressed come next time.
Also....STAY OFF THE COMPUTER! How in the world will you get things done while your here reading this...ME I already did my house work...I have to complete that before I allow myself time to get here.

Put on some peppy music and set a timer for 10 minutes and see how much you can get done. Set a goal and reward yourself later. Find a friend who likes to organize who will help make your home more efficient. Decorate your space so that you can enjoy it when it is clean. Or, hire a housekeeper for a couple of hours a week and clean along with her. Plan a dinner party or get-together or just invite someone over so you have incentive to clean up!

circulate back to artwork and hire a house purifier to return in two times each week or so. It particularly would not value plenty in case you will hit upon a chum of a chum who will do it. Even a youthful stay at living house mom because of the fact it will supply her a splash extra money. i've got on no account been the proper housekeeper the two. easily, I despise it. i've got chanced on the least complicated way is to easily throw stuff out. for occasion, i'm getting overwhelmed whilst the counter gets cluttered up with mail, newspapers, papers the babies deliver living house, and so on. I purely circulate via it and throw out each thing different than expenditures I might desire to pay, very own letters and stuff i might desire to sign for the babies. If i'm no longer able to think of of the place some thing could circulate, I throw it out. It makes my husband and young ones mad each each now and then yet a minimum of it is not cluttering up my living house. initiate with the trouble-free's first. attempt doing 2-3 an incredible sort of laundry on a daily basis. Take out the trash on a daily basis and shop up with the dishes. I actually have a tendency to scrub at the same time as i'm on the telephone on account that cleansing would not require questioning yet i'm no longer able to do something (like get on the workstation, examine or watch television). it particularly is remarkable how little I even observe of what i'm doing. the properly suited cleansing products help to make issues plenty greater trouble-free too. i exploit magnificent greater then something (I pay $one million for it on the dollar universal shop) and it would not injury surfaces. If a room get's particularly undesirable (like the babies room or the washing room), I take in the trash can and a super clothing basket and purely initiate tossing issues. If this nonetheless would not artwork, ask a solid buddy to help teach you the thank you to maintain the living house clean. it particularly is surely a potential some human beings have and a few human beings do no longer. My mom on no account taught me the thank you to do it the two.

Think of the results!!! A dirty home carries bacteria - yuck! You don't want that. A clean, orderly space makes for a more fresh, peaceful environment in which to be motivated in, in the first place. Seeing all the clutter is probably what's so daunting to you.

So imagine what your place will look like afterwards, play your favorite music, and fantasize /daydream as you clean!

You'll be done in no time!

write a list of what you want to clean. if you get side tracked by something you should find, do one of 2 things: put it in another room, if you think that you may forget it write down what you want to do to it read, look etc & move on.
stick to your list.... you will be satisfied by crossing things off
break down to simplist task when writing list

not "clean living room"

but more of a list like below

get cleaner, towels duster (whatever you would clean with)
remove stuff from table
wipe down table
as puting stuff back on table dust off (don't look, don't think just clean)
dust off tv
dust off lamps
get out vaccum cleaner (or broom, mop)
clean living room floor
clean other similar floor
etc

make it simple, keep it simple, cross off as you go
at the end of the list or in the middle schdule a break
ie have coffee in the middle of you list, this way you force yourself to get through 1/2 a simple list before you can have coffee (if you have the coffee first you have rewarded yourself for getting nothing done) the coffee will then motivate yourself & give you that boost to finish your list & have your other reward at the end be it a relaxing bath, watching your favorate show, lighting some nice smelling candles etc

remember look around you "you deserve a clean house!"

keep it simple

hope this helps

Hire a carpet cleaning or housecleaning service (for deep-cleaning stuff like taking windows off, etc). Before they come, you will be mortified and pre-clean, because you can't trust them to put things away correctly and won't want them to see your mess. It doesn't cost $100, and just do it every couple of months, when you really need a good pick-me-up. Take it from Queen Procrastinator-it works!

Turn on the tunes get a timer and while you are cleaning have the timer set so that it goes off every ten minutes. Every time it goes off throw away something within your view. That way every time you clean, you have less to clean. Most of us have so much stuff we will never use any Wait.
