I think you south of the border cousins of ours are a TAD more infatuated with the 66 world cup than we are, understandably because... not sure but BELIEVE, as many eminent pundits have found after months of research, that you won it in 1966. I personally only love 66 because it's the year of The Beatles' Revolver and Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. As for England being a better country, come now, calm down. Since the Act of Union, Scotland has been integral to the UK during the Industrial Revolution, Adam Smith with his foundation of the modern economy (we Scots invented the overdraft!!!), innovation, investment, and now with our 12 billion of oil revenue coming to Westminster (and at the same time being told we're spongers and that Westminster is being run by a Scots Raj, Lothian question, blah, blah, don't think so...) we've been good to the UK. So don't disrespect the Scots. We have given the English premiership it's finest managers, the best Liverpool player in history, a defeat of Holland in 1978 when they made the final, and, when last auld enemies met, we beat you at Wembley in 1999. So don't judge because I am Scot living in London and there's a lot I love about England (won't be supporting "anyone but England" just not supporting anyone), and don't take kindly to being called a Jock or any anti-Scots polemic.
