I have found that Boric Acid, re applied after every rain storm will keep ants away from the foundation. If you can safely do it, you can also put some where the cement meets the wood frame on the inside.
Also, for years my kids(until they bought their own homes)
have declared that their mom was insane. It is because I wash garbage before putting it in a trash bucket to discourage insect infestation.

Eggshells, empty soup cans, kitty food cans, the wax paper meat comes wrapped in etc. I have never had a problem with ants ,flys or any other nasty kridder because of that practice.

Basicly ants are harmless creatures, but they're pest and they do sting if you irritate them or you get enough of them. First of all you have to find out where they're entering then seal it off. As soon as you do that then you've got it licked. Ortho from Home Depot or Lowe's is your best bet, but get ready for a strong vinegary smell as you spread it. Use it on mounds around cracks, but out of harms way of animals. It's the best that I've used. I take care of a commercial bldg. and I've had good results.Make sure you follow the directions. That's important.

Sevin dust OR Diatomaceous Earth.

You can buy Sevin at Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart, anywhere with a garden center. It is chemical stuff.

If prefer the Diatomaceous Earth. It is natural stuff and will not harm vertebrates, (you, kids, pets, etc.) It is actually food grade. It WILL kill anything with an exoskeleton, including ants, roaches, garden bugs. You can get it at:

yeah, I have to agree with UNITool...
Another thing you can do, is I think clorox or some brand has a bleach spray (aerosal can kind of deal) and that can help keep the ants away in places where you can't use raid.

Maybe you could buy some of those little ant traps, and also spraying raid around your windows and doors outside helps sometimes.

Make sure you have no food around there and make sure you have screen windows and good sealing around it. Try buying a roach motel you know those small black square things it might work for ants.

I've found that the product "Taro" works wonders. The ants are drawn to the product, eat it then take it back to the nest where it kills them all.

Have a nice day. :-)

Remove their motivation - make sure there is no food for them available. Basically, keep a spotless house; no crumbs, nothing. Food in sealed airtight containers (good idea anyway). If there's no food for them, there's no reason for them to be there.
