Well first off, check with your school about the dress code for your prom. (Some schools require females to wear dresses, some don't.) If they don't require you to wear a dress the next thing that I find attractive, yet formal, would be a gaucho set. You could wear heels or a pair of stylish flats. If your school does require you to wear a dress, find a dress that fits your body comfortably and that you feel best describes your sense of fashion and personality.

Get involved in some extracurricular or lunchtime activities so you can meet other students. I met a great guy when I was in high school who took me to dances and stuff and the only reason we met is because I was doing these extracurricular activities and the activities were fun too. Before I met him I didn't go to any dances because I didn't want to - but deep inside maybe I did. It feels extra special if a boy asks you - but if he doesn't - go with a group of girlfriends or ask a guy friend to escort you as a friend. It doesn't have to be your biggest life's romance to be an enjoyable time. I never wore dresses as a teenager except for that high school prom or two! You're starting to change how you feel about things and there are so many different styles of dresses out there - you don't have to look like Cinderella with frills and lace. If you're not into the fancy dresses you can get a cocktail dress that is simple and won't feel tacky on you. Get one of those prom dress magazines and look around on the internet. I'm sure that ebay has a gazillon GREAT dresses that are reasonably priced for Prom - I love Ebay! Think about giving the boy you go with a great time, if you're wearing a dress that fits his style - he'll enjoy the time with you all the more. On the other hand if you date wants to go wearing jeans and you do too - then all the more power to you - don't wear a dress! But, then they may have a policy that formal wear is required. But formal wear doesn't have to be totally traditional and there is a thing called formal wear pants. Be yourself and have fun!

First you should be in school all year around for proper English. Please refrain from it so people can understand what you're really trying to say.
