I gotta agree with Cyanne, I had a friend who became an air traffic controller at Chicago Ohare, He was good at it until he went off the edge and damn near crashed two 747s into each other. He got out of the field now and is a radio broadcaster but some of the stories he told me were a bit hair raising.

I doubt it's "the" highest but it's certainly up there. Depends on who you work for and how critical it is to keep the systems you monitor up.

Imagine this... A server crashes at a company and they are losing money by the minute while it's down because they can't access any of their data. No it's your job to get them up and running again. You can't just go home at 5pm. You have to stay until it's working. Sometimes they stand over your shoulder while your trying to do this and it makes it even harder to think and concentrate on what you're doing. Plus everyone that hires a computer tech seems to be under the false assumption that you're going to know EVERYTHING there is to know about computers - oblivious to the many branches one could follow in this huge field.

Yeah it sucks.

The job of President of the United States. The explanation is that traditionally a President dies in office every 20 years. That is a very high mortality rate for any profession.
