In most vinyl fencing, the end and corner posts are filled with concrete. Bore a hole in three places on each end post. Attach a 2x4 using a wedge anchor. Using a fence staple, attach your wire mesh to 2x4.
If there is no concrete in the corner and end posts, use a hollow wall anchor to attach the 2x4 to the post.
Downside: You have big ole hole if you decide to take off the wire mesh and 2x4.

yes it is a great idea, if you want to make it realllllly special, go to the dollar store and buy a coffee mug (or use one out of your cabinet, just be sure it does not have any cracks or chips on it), then get a couple packets of those one cup servings hot chocolates (you can buy a box of swiss miss or nestles for about a dollar - use 2 or 3 packets tucked inside the cup and you will have the other 9 or 10 leftover for yourself!!!) then use a sheet of tissue paper or some newspaper or paper towels and wrap that around the cup then stuff it into a lunch bag sized paper bag, if the bag is real plain you can decorate it with drawings of marshmallows :)

Very small length self-drilling sheet metal screws. Make sure they are stainless steel to prevent staining of the vinyl or use tek bonded screws. These are screws with a rubber gasket on them to help prevent galvanic reactions (Rusting) which would occur if the mesh and screw are dissimilar metals.

try tie wraps which you can get a radio shack or most hard ware stores. They come in various lengths and colors and thicknesses. They are plastic and one end slips into the other and locks as you pull tight.
