Not to be cynical, but the so-called angel community tends to be long on talk and short on investment. If I were you, I'd forget about looking for investors and start looking for understanders-with-cash. Talk to some people in the industry -- get some informational interviews, do what you have to do to open some doors -- and find people who know the animation industry and understand what you're trying to do. Typically, the more you learn about who's who, the smaller the pool gets. Then, among that pool of understanders, look for those who have the cash and inclination to invest. If you're like most entrepreneurs, you need not only cash but also mentoring, and an industry-savvy investor could help you in both respects (by providing cash and maybe by serving on your board of directors or board of advisors).
