Hubby just got a new Honda VTX 1800 and it has that ugly "Warning" sticker right smack dab in the middle of the tank. What would be a good product to remove it without damaging the paint or finish?

We've heard everything from a heat gun to wd-40.

His last bike the sticker was already removed.

Thank you for any suggestions.

I thought the heat would damage the finish that's why I was skeptical.

Living in Florida, the absolute best and easiest way I've found is to just park my bike in the sun for about 15 minutes. The decals can be peeled right off, leaving no residue.

I've done the hair dryer method, as well as using products like Goo Gone, etc. Both methods left a ton of residue and were way more work.

Are you plotting to characteristic it to someones gas and opt to inflict as plenty injury as you could? Dish detergent is especially water, and so would be on the backside of your gas tank (gas floats on appropriate of water) In vehicles, maximum gas pickup tubes are fixed to floats which additionally point out the gas point. The cleansing soap will purely be sucked up as quickly as the gas point is going low to the component of accomplishing the water (cleansing soap) point. of course mutually as using, the gas would be sloshing and combining up with the cleansing soap, so whether the tank is finished, the engine would desire to get sudsy. Water will reason rust and doubtless contaminate your injectors (is the motor in a backyard mower, motor vehicle, airplane??) upload various of gas line antifreeze (alcohol) to the tank which will combination with the water interior the cleansing soap so as that it rather is fed on alongside with the gas.

Go to your local Home Depot Hardware store or a major hardware store in your area and look for a product called "goop" it is designed for this purpose for removing labels from what you described but also stickers (sun damaged) from glass.

Enjoy!

Heat gun or blow dryer, WD-40 or lighter fluid. Always does the trick.
