I've had past-due babies so I definitely feel you there. If you try to get contractions going before the baby is lined up just right, you'll likely end up with a c-section. Guess how I know. :(
I would recommend waiting. Walk a lot, crawl on your hands and knees, rock your hips up and down and side to side to encourage good position. Do not sit in a recliner or a reclined position as this can lead to the baby turning face up. Sit with your knees lower than your hips. Go up and down stairs facing the wall so you're side stepping. Position of the baby is very important.
When a baby is ready to come out, the baby is the one to release hormones that cause labor. With my last one, she was facing my hip for a couple days and I did all the pelvic rocking I could. When she finally turned to face my back, the show was on - I went from 6 cm to done in 35 minutes with an 11 pound baby.
I sure dind't like going past-due, but at least I know my last 2 came when ready and there was no recovery like there was with the c-section I had with my first (due to "failed induction").

I'm 39 weeks pregnant so I know how you feel!
Try inducing through nipple stimulation: roll the nipple between your index finger and thumb until you feel a contraction and stop. It should start in about 20 min. I've been using EveningPrimrose oil capsules 3 times daily and 2 in the vagina at night to help soften/ripen the cervix. It contains prostaglandins which ripen the cervix. Look at this web site as well: www.drspock.com/
Good luck! Unfortunately those babies come when they want. I've been trying for a while now and nothing.

I felt the same as you, I did everything I had heard of to induce labour with the exception of castor oil!(that is very dangerous by the way) I went for a 2 hour walk, had sex, drank 10 cups of raspberry leaf tea, and ate spicy food! I had my daughter the next day, it could have been a coincidance but at least i felt like i was doing something to speed it up!

DO NOT TAKE CASTOR OIL!!!!!!! It is very dangerous, and made from the poisionous castor bean! Nipple stimulation and orgasms can induce contractions, and lead to labor. Do not try to do so before 35 weeks though, or you risk your baby not being ready. The lungs are the last to develop and the chemical signal given by mature lungs is what tells mom's body to start labor. If you haven't started labor (obviously) your baby probaly isn't ready.

I once knew a lady who went into a pool, grabbed onto the sides and then did the splits until she was tired. She had her baby 12 hrs later.

I drank caster oil with my third daughter. My only down fall was that my labor/delivery was sooooo fast I wasn't able to get an epidural (pain med). Oh, and I gag every time I drink something that has the same texture ( I used to love cappuccino).

I have not had this problem so I don't know from experience, but I have heard other people I know say that drinking castor oil works, having sex, eating spicy foods, walking around
Hope something works!

if its within a week of the due date only...................castor oil definitely works. it helped my aunt with two of her kids; she went into labor about an hour after taking the stuff. but beware that it tastes horrible. you only need about a sm. spoon of it. dont do it rashly though, cuz premature labor will hurt your baby.

Let the baby come when it's ready! It's only nine months worth of torture, you don't wanna hurt your baby!

I've heard having sex can induce labor, but you cannot have sex after the water breaks.
