Most ducks have a wide flat beak adapted for dredging. They exploit a variety of food sources such as grasses, grains and aquatic plants, fish, and insects. Some (the diving ducks) forage deep underwater; the others (the dabbling ducks) feed from the surface of water or on land.
Ducks don't chew.

Ducks, like other birds, have this funky little organ called a "gizzard". They swallow their food, it enters the digestive tract and mixes with gravel that the bird has swallowed previously. That grinds up the food and makes it easier to digest.

They don't...ever feed bread to ducks? They have to choke it down, then drink some of the funky water they're swimming in to get it down to their stomachs! Yuck!

The same way a chicken does - with it's gizzard. They swollow the grain whole and the gizzard essentially pulverizes it.
