because "you"....[the employee]......not necessarily you...per/say
are expendable and easily replaced.....and some times at a less $$$$$$ than what you are gettin'.........
if an employer decides that for some reason...[some times any reason]...that the employee isn't up to par somewhere in their work-day.....they can get "another.......you" when they are "done" with you......
then on the other hand there might be some kind of "glitch"
within your personality, your work ethics, your business ethics,
or maybe your tie is just the wrong color and length.......or there may be an attitude that they may see deep within you...and wish to possibly avoid any future problems that might arise......
remember that you get what you emit / show / give.....it does work..."both" ways........

Dude, you ARE another Joe. If you're unemployed, your "precious time" apparently isn't worth a dollar to anyone but you. That ought to be a clue, right there.
And as for "McDonald's and your typical low-paying jobs," hey...before I got where I am, I scrubbed out grease pits, mopped floors and asked "do you want fries with that?" I got the respect I earned, even when I cleaned houses. I've never commanded less and I've never demanded more. Get over that snobbery.
For one job out of four I currently I have open, I had 44 resumes, 17 interviews, 6 second interviews, and then the person I hired called the first day of work, 2 hours before her shift, when 25 people were depending on her to show up, and said, "Y'know, I thought about it over the weekend...this just doesn't fit with my kids' schedule this summer." This is a grown woman, or so I thought.
Email apps have made personal responses impossible. I get cover letters all the time from people who say, "I think I'd be great at XYZ Corp.," when I work at NOP Corp. Sometimes their career objective has nothing to do with what I'm advertising. Even though they didn't bother to read my ad, just to point and click because some crawler or bot said it might be relevant to what they want, they think they should all get personal responses.
And job candidates lie like rugs. One I had recently answered "no" to the "any convictions" question - her background check came back with 7 felony convictions.
They treat my receptionist like the hired help. That won't get them anywhere with me. She tells them to fill out an application, that's me talking - me, the screening/hiring authority. You treat her like dirt and I can hear it from my office.
Did I say I work at a training facility where at least once a week I have to tell an employer that (a) no, that person never attended our institution or (b) no, that person never worked here - we don't know who she is.
Scumbag employers? How about lying, arrogant, and obnoxious would-be employees? We make 'em jump through hoops because it's getting hard to find someone who's not lying about how high she or he can jump, or who has some clue about his or her own abilities.
Then we hire someone and either they're too arrogant to ask a question or too clueless to do so. So I have some dingbat quitting and saying, "well, this wasn't exactly rocket science"...and five months later, we're still cleaning up his errors. Thank heavens it wasn't rocket science.

With an attitude like yours it's no wonder you have problems with employers.
First off you aren't owed a call back after an interview if they do one it's a courtesy. Good grief if they did 100 interviews do you think they have time to call all of them? What are you doing waiting for the call back to decide if you should apply elsewhere? Try applying to several places at once and if you get multiple job offers your in the happy position of getting to pick the best one and turn down the others.
Second your employer usually doesn't know you from Adam. You are just another Joe to him/her until you prove otherwise. If you want to be treated like something special EARN IT. Work your but off and prove to everyone that your as exceptional as you think you are.
Finally your employer doesn't owe you anything for just showing up. If you work and do your job you get a pay check and benefits, which is what you agreed to when you took the job. If you want more than that (bonuses, raises, promotions, awards) you have to do more than your job so your boss sees you are more valuable to him/her. If you do less than your job all you deserve is a swift kick out the door.

Most persons who are lucky enough to be the boss or head of a company have worked hard to get there. They only see what they had to go through and base all others around them on the same scale.
Some are up to their ears in the 'power' that being a boss avails them. Not always a good thing, but on the positive side, that same power that can ruin you, can also save you if the need should ever arise and the boss finds you worthy of his or her 'powers'.
Don't be offended by these peoples, rather tell yourself that you will do your best to be a better person when you find yourself in the 'power position'. What we wish on others usually comes back to us tenfold ..good or bad.
Just breath deep, remain calm and smile your biggest smile while saying 'thank-you'. Works far better than high blood pressure at a young age.

There are so many people in the world, most people who hire cannot spend that "quality" time with anyone-not even their potential customers. Most businesses are out for the dollar-nothing else. You must convince the person representing the company that you're there to make (or save) that dollar for the company- that you will not become a deadbeat like most of the present staff.

gentle giant is an as__o_e. Contrary to what many people believe, an employer, or potential employer owes you ****. It's unfortunate reality, buy most states have employment at will. This means they can shi_ can you for any reason WHATSOEVER! Remember, you have no right to employment; this aint comunism, baby. My wife recently had an inteview with Crabtree & Evelyn where the district manager discussed salary, hours of responsiblilty, heirarchy, etc. All sunshine pumped up her ***. She was confident of the position; never received a promised phone call, e-mail, nothin'. In short, get a job with the Federal Goverment, as I enjoy.

It seems that you have an attitude problem.
The market is driven by supply and demand.
Whatever is in short supply,and the demand is high for it, it becomes a precious comodity.
When company interviews you they also spend a lot of time and money.
You should respect a company first.
Company will respect you when you have done some thing worth while for it. But if you demand respect it may not come, wait for it.

You sound bitter. If you come across at interviews like this, it can hinder their hiring or responding. Also, hardly any company responds to a person that they are not going to hire. That is just standard practice.
It does not just happen to you. I think I have only received on rejection letter in the hundreds of resumes I have sent. Good Luck.

Did you try calling them for a status check and to show motivation to get the job? someone probably did and that is why you didn't get it. Also these companies recieve thousands of applications, they can't be calling everybody just to let them know they didn't get the job. Next time follow up yourself and show some initiative and you might have better luck. Good Luck on the job search.

Because it all comes down to money. Time is money, therefore calling you is going to cost someone some time (and effort) which in turn is money the employer will need to shell out. Unfortunayely about 90% of people are like this employer or not. :(
