Use your eyes to see the world, assess dangers, see where people are coming from, see both the beauty and the ugliness,
look at things and people for what they are, not what you want them to be. All that stuff about, "it's impolite to stare" forget that nonsense, immediately! Look around you, let your eyes drink in every new thing, experience your world with your eyes first, train your eyes to be perceptive, and they will save your life and never let you down. Some children oftentimes don't learn this. Children of the lower economic classes DO, of necessity. A guy
I worked with in the Army, named Arthur Patterson, taught it to this old guy when I was still young. I still reckon it the greatest advice ever given to me. USE YOUR EYES, NO ONE ELSE IS USING THEIR EYES WELL ENOUGH TO EVEN NOTICE! Using your eyes is the secret to being "wise as a serpent, and gentle as a lamb." GLANCE AWAY IF YOU THINK< THEY THINK YOUR STARING. THEN USE YOUR EYES SOME MORE! I think I said what I wanted. May God lay His protective hand upon you and your daughter. --your friend, UC

My mother, who had 3 girls told us all this: That she gave birth to us, that we were gifts to her from God to raise up and be all we could be. And that therefore once we were ready to leave her home and go into the world, know that it is there for you to shape and do with it as you want with love, understanding and respect for all men/women. That it will only be your (our) perception of your own ability that will keep you from accomplishing all you want, or take you all the way to the stars. Remember, you are free and it is a wonderful world we live in, make your own reality. You can be happy or unhappy, you can cry and whine or you can pick up the pieces and built a castle. You dont need anyones approval, as long as what you do is honest and you remain true to yourself, you have all the know how to live a life to the fullest.

Don't forget to stop and smell the roses. Too many people get caught up in the rush of everyday life to experience the little pleasures of life. A sunrise. A baby sleeping. Savor the moment because that is truly living.

I received some advice regarding my struggles as a young single mother wondering if I should give up trying to put myself through college.
"The time is going to go by whether you are in school or not, so you may as well be in school even if it's only a class at a time."
That wonderful woman was right. It took me longer than most, but my MS is the personal accomplishment of which I am most proud.

She should learn that you can't expect people to overlook your shortcomings if you're not willing to overlook theirs. Whether they are really shortcomings or not, everyone sees things they don't approve of in other people, that's just a fact. Learn to accept these things as part of the whole makeup of a person, realize that you have things about you that need to be accepted also, and the whole world is a more pleasant place to live.

Well the only advice I remember from my childhood is: "Be careful honey... the world is not so fair as you think..."
My mom and other relatives tell me this advice all the time...
I have to admit that this advice really helped me in my life...
There are other good advices too....like "The only people that wish you to be good are only your close family"....
hope your daughter to be wise and good person...

not to mix the grapes and the grain (wine and beer) at a party. Also, after a drink, always take two asprin or tylenol before going to sleep.
