not if you expect a rational and logical response and faith is a substitute for a lack of logic and rational reasoning.

No. Christians are to give a reason for the hope that is in them. Biblical faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. God is not seen but it is clear that there must be something eternal and that only some is eternal (the creator is God) and that God as infinitely good will overcome all evil (both moral and natural). It is in the goodness of God that Christians are to hope.

Oh, yes.
Knowledge is based on experience.
Personal direct experience.
Belief is the trust one has on what other people say about something.
Therefore, faith (or trust) it's not only a valid answer to a question involving belief. It's actually the only valid answer.
If you know something, you don't say "I believe".
You just say what you know, and why.

No, it just shows that you are lazy and can't find a better reason. Faith, especially the Christian faith, can be controversial in many discussions.
So you can't just say, "Because Jesus said" when asked a question like that.

No, it circles the question because belief is just another way of saying faith. It's a bit like someone asking another, "Why are your eyes closed?" and the person replies, "Because I put my lids down."

Well, 'faith' is truly some people's explanation, so that should suffice. However, I'm sure some people have more indepth reasons they believe.

If the question is why do "YOU" believe then any answer which is honestly the reason that "YOU" believe is legit. Who is someone else to question your personal reasons for belief in anything....

You should have faith in that answer!...grin. It depends on what you're asking...for example...prove to me that religious texts are given to mortals by greater beings! Can't be done. Prove to me that G-d loves you...can't be done. So all you have left is faith!
