A lot of the heavy metal/rock I've heard has been very expressive and varying, so I tend to float towards that kind of genre. Rap personally seems really repetitive both musically and lyrically, from what I've heard. I like my wide ranges of expression, and a lot of rock artists and bands have delivered that variation for me.

Metal or Rock, or any other form of music where you have to learn to play a musical instrument or learn to SING not talk is better than Rap. Rap is not music. It is street poetry with an ELECTRONIC drum machine that usually denigrates the listener with foul language or threatening lyrics. It doesn't take skill to press the start button on a drum machine and talk. If there is no melodic content via instruments or voices by DEFINITION Rap is NOT music.

F*ck yeah, I prefer Prog. Metal bands like Dream Theater and Sonata Arctica. Children of Bodom kicks a*s, Dimmu Borgir, Old school Metallica. I have to say though, Rage Against the Machine was great.

Rock is good, metal is awesome too. Metallica rock, Iron Maiden even rock (the old buggers!), I used to think Suicidal Tendencies were the best band ever. One thing I really like is the intensity. Yeah I hear you, metal will stay with us, but hip-hop will too. As long as there are angry young people there will be metal, as long as there are teen girls, there will be R&B and somewhere in between is hip hop... :)

I like rock but not heavy metal. I listen to some rap...like Kanye West but not much more. SO I would say rock because right now rap is only about stupid stuff...what the hell is Laffy Taffy?

Rock, Grunge, Classic Rock, Country, Classical Music, Pop, Alternative, Indie Rock, metal, whatever u can think of is heck of a lot better than rap will ever be.

I love all kinds of rock and btw anything is better than rap b/c rap has zero talent in it and I think it sucks.
