the last major indigenous muslim group in europe.
North African derived ethnic group in southern spain, portugal and thereabouts up to several hundred years ago; they were driven out by the crusaders. It wasn't until the Castillians in Spain had won those wars that spain started building an empire
The moors built the incredible palace at Alhambra and a bunch of other castles and things like that. Busy bunnies. In those days if you were dark skinned you were thought to be a Moor

The term "Moor" means dark. It term Moors relate to a group of people who existed during the early arab civilizations. They originated from the North African country of Morocco. The were Arab Muslims and were enemies of the Romans during the Roman Empire and Great Britain during the Crusades. The most famous Moor was a General by the name of Hannibal Barca. His battle tactics are still taught and discussed today in our military academies. Hope this helps.

When the crusades were over and there was about 7 of them or so, some of the Muslims did not go all the way back to the Middle East, but rather stayed and settled in a section of Spain. They are still there today. They call them the Moors.

You have some excellent answers below, however, in more recent time the Moors frequently shot at planes carrying mail across the Sahara Desert. I believe that they also held African slaves they called Barks. This was written about in a book by Antoine St. Exupery of The Little Prince fame. Good luck!

Moors were a group of people from North Africa that invaded and conquered Spain, Portugal and parts of modern Italy (Sicily). See Shakespeare's play "The Tragedy of Othello The Moor"

moors can be two things that I know of. The Moors were a tribe of warlike people somewhere is the east a long time ago....or Moors could be a lonely, bog like country place, uninhabited.
