2500 is just U S soldiers. What about all the civilians and soldiers from other countries who have died?
The invasion of Iraq was not only immoral, it was illegal, and I don't know how anyone can justify continued occupation. When will someone in USA start impeachment proceedings so you can get rid of those psychopaths Bush and Cheney and that idiot Rumsfeld?
To Kathy059: Road deaths are not being debated here. It's nonsense to compare them with "combat" deaths. Have a look at this website before getting righteous:

1. We need to limit the influence of military recruiters on people.
2. No Child Left Un-Recruited
Hidden within the No Child Left Behind Act, President Bush's sweeping new education law passed in 2002, is a provision requiring public secondary schools to provide military recruiters not only with access to facilities, but also with contact information for every student -- or face a cutoff of all federal aid.
3. Stop this flow of war at the source, don't let the military hit thier quotas. March right in to where they recruit armed with facts, save lives with knowledge, stop the war. Confront the recruiters who make cannon fodder out of our children and make murderers out of American citizens.
4. This is the #1 best way to be anti-war, people need to act, not complain. Have some guts, stop the war.
5. If you disagree you probably should be enlisting, have fun.
6. If you disagree with Bush, take away his power.
A man was walking on the beach saw that it was littered with thousands of starfish. A little boy was picking up the starfish one by one and throwing them into the ocean. He asked the boy, "What are you doing?" The boy replied, "I'm throwing starfish back into the water. If I leave them here they'll dry up and die." The man said, "But look how many starfish there are. What you're doing can't possibly make a difference." As the boy picked up another starfish and threw it into the ocean he said, "Well, it makes a difference to this one!"
This is what counter-recruitment is all about, be brave.

The only thing that they have is "terror"... which they have no facts to support... There are no facts to support this war...
And also, don't you love all the "compassion" that the conservatives have for the soldiers... they seem to think they are about as special as highway accident victims...
Can anyone cite a reason with fact that we are there? I know your opinions that you can't support with facts, thank you very much...
you think that people who say they are "loyal Americans" would at least care enough to read the 9-11 report and find out who is actually responsible for the attack... they would realize that Iraq doesn't have anything to do with it...
here is the most recent department of defense death estimates... http://www.dod.gov/news/casualty.pdf

It's childish to ask a question and tell us how to answer it. We are fully aware of how many soldiers have been killed in Iraq, and pray for their families each day, along with those whom have been wounded.. You need to put things in prospective, in our own Civil War nearly 3% of the population died, 970,000 casualties, 560,000 deaths. I don't pretend to know the numbers for WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam or the Gulf War, or even the Revolutionary War. Do you honestly think the freedom isn't costly? How naive can one individual be? Think of how many people are murdered each year right here at home, think they asked for it? What about people that die on our freeways each year, they ask for it? And what about the most innocent of them all, babies that are aborted each year in this country? They have no voice..did they ask for it?
Like I said put things in prospective. My family members have fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War (on both sides), WWI, Korea, WWII, Vietnam, and The Gulf War and Iraq. My father received 2 purple hearts during WWII, (for real wounds). You don't give me that liberal crap about what did these people really die for? They died so that you could open your big mouth and rant, so please by all means enjoy that freedom!!!!!

We lost 25.000 in the American Revolution, 2250 in The War Of 1812, The Mexican American war 13,283, Civil War North 360,000, Civil War South 200,000, Spanish American War 2890 World War I 116,700, World War II 408,300, Korean War 54, 250, Vietnam 57.000. Freedom is not free. There are a growing number of Democommies who actually said in polls that fighting in World War II should not have happened. They thought we should have continued talks with the Japanese and took our lumps. Rubbish.

They are dying so that al queda doesn't come here with a big knife and cut your head off. And so that you have the right to disagree with your administration - try living in a world where you disagree with theirs.

would you rather the people that pledged their lives to serving their country die, or the war to be here and innocent people that don't pledge their life to die here in America because we didn't want to send our troops over there. How many innocent Iraqis have we killed??
