War isn't a re-solution; it's the lack of a solution.
We have WMD's and are developing new ones, but as Einstein said, if WW3 is fought with nuclear weapons. WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones.

It resolves the question of who has the biggest gun. War goes back to the childhood ritual or who will be king of the playground, in instances that one group of people want rule over a particular land or people. On the other side, war for a just cause, while in may be bloody and deadly, can have a benefit for an oppressed land of people in the long run. It's the basics of good vs evil. It's never cut and dry and there will always be many casualties on both sides. Because of mans need for power and control, war will continue to exist.

It resolves nothing in as far as the original conflict will still remain because neither side will accept that they are wrong even in defeat they will still have the belief that they are right. However, the biggest winners are the government when a country is at war people are so worried that their loved ones will be killed they dont watch what the government is doing or the decisions that they are making. The government gets to justify putting more funds into the military coffers rather than hospitals and education because they are providing for the boys OS fighting....no one wins in war its just meaningless death.

So all you people who support the war would be happy to volunteer to go to Iraq and help out the "cause".

I bet you wouldn't. Invading someone else's country because you don't like their politics can never be justified. OK, Saddam Hussein was a dictator, but is the situation in Iraq any better now that he's not in charge? Ask the families of all the victims of the war, both Iraqi and American, whether they are happy to have sacrificed their loved ones.

It is time Bush was removed from power before he completely stuffs the world up by invading Iran or any other country he takes a dislike to. You Americans have to put a stop to his criminal warmongering by starting impeachment proceedings as soon as possible.

Well, let's see....

Some examples come immediately to mind.

War determined that the United States would be an independent nation. War ended slavery in the United States rather decisively. War shut down Hitler and the Nazis rather nicely.

The notion that "war doesn't solve anything" is sophomoric drivel that even a moments worth of thought reveals to be nonsense.

It stops idiots from flying planes into buildings, it stops guys that like to put on a black hood and saw off innocent people's heads. It makes it possible for you to dislike our government and disagree with it too the point of hatred. Because if there was no war right now those are the people who'd be in charge soon and your life wouldn't be the same - would it.

War is the injection of reality into a political discussion. It resolves who has the might of will to uphold their ideals for a time period of roughly 80 years.
