I think if it were a guy and a girl up there they would get lonely too. Then get married to different people and then go back to have an affair with each other. Its something that is wrong, but feels great when your doing it. You can't stay away. I wondered why they stayed apart for as long as they did. If it were me I would try harder to get with the person I love.

I really liked the movie too, I think that Jack was gay from the beginning, and it appeared that Enis was confused at first, he tried to deny any feelings he had at first, but due to the closeness of the two, he grew to love Jack. Perhaps Enis was bisexual, because he never went looking for someone to replace Jack when they were apart. I cried for what seemed like hours at the ending and the incredible lack of compassion and pain that people can inflict on others because they don't live by their standards, it truly mirrors how a lot of people would react. So sad...

If you watched the whole movie this was touched upon. Jack was afraid of what happens to homosexuals in the country, the story about the guy who disappeared. He had a fiancee prior to the mountain so that makes him bisexual at the least. Enis was homosexual prior to the mountain and only got married because she threw herself at him. Afterword he was cruising Mexico to get some action. In the end you hear his parents talking about how he wanted Jack to move in with him and run the ranch. Then you see Jack crying in the closet. Obviously they fell in love on the mountain because nobody forced Jack to bugger Enis or vice versa. And so, what you have is probably a bisexual and a homosexual turned bisexual.

As soon as Ennis told Jack that his little speech was more words than he'd spoken in a year, it was clear that something was happening. Jack made the first move, and Ennis struggled with it but eventually gave in to his need for real emotional and physical male bonding. We find out his father was not exactly the nurturing type so to speak. Ennis's love for Alma is real.. but it's not quite enough. Jack's love for Lureen however, is a cover up... and he knows that she knows it.
It's a tragic ending to a beautiful movie....

I think both things caused what happened between them, but when they met after 4 years - then in turns only to falling in love.In fact, I think Jack was in love with Ennis even in the beginning, just Ennis did it at first cause he needed sex.

you are able to yet easily maximum human beings the position so very much shocked and closed mined about the movie that they in undemanding words pick to discuss the "gays"....heck there have been a good number of flicks with lesbians in them and human beings did not care....its' no longer okay to for a gay movie? Sorry I ranted yet definite i'd call it a sad love tale that factors out factors of existence that human beings pick to push aside.

Well maybe...but you know what...alot of men are truly 'pigs" not all men ok? Those 2 characters in that movie could have fallen in love ...but of course you know Men they wont really show their true feelings...as for calling men "pigs" I say that because alot of them will just have sex with anything or anybody...But the movie itself ...it could have been a love story between two men..I personally dont know...but its possible.

As the movie develops, they are/were clearly gay. They seem to indicate that from the first scene when they are in town.

They were gay. No such strong love could have survived between two men after meeting women had it been just circumstances.
